Microsoft Zune to soon connect to Xbox 360 and PC

Software giant Microsoft has said that their recently launched digital music player Zune would get the capability to connect wirelessly to the Xbox 360 gaming console and PCs.

Company president Bill Gates said in a statement that Zune would soon be integrated with other platforms offered by the company. This would include the Vista operating system. Interestingly, Vista in its release candidate versions does not even support the Zune player.

Gates said in a statement: “We will take it even further or connecting the Zune to the Windows PC or Xbox. There is a lot more coming there.”

Gates further said on Zune’s capabilities: “We’re changing entertainment from something you do in isolation to connected entertainment.”

Microsoft recently launched the Zune player to take on Apple iTunes + iPod model. It retails for around US $249.99 in the market similar to the Apple’s iPod player featuring the similar storage capacity of 30 GBs.

However, unlike the iPod, it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and a FM Tuner amongst other features.

Nevertheless, market analysts are still amazed that Microsoft has specifically confirmed that Zune would not be compatible with their recently launched Windows Media Player 11 application. The Zune player supports its own proprietary Zune Marketplace and comes with its own application. This model is similar to how iPod works along with the software application and the online store dubbed Apple iTunes.
