Thomson Inc. to offer a GE branded VoIP phone
Thomson has said that they are planning to launch a General Electric-branded phone capable of making VoIP calls.
Thomson is one of the GE licensees and is one of the largest makers and distributors of phones in the world. This news might just confirm the fact that VoIP phones are indeed going mainstream.
They would be working with service provider SunRockets for this launch. SunRockets incidentally already sell residential Internet phone service for a flat rate of $200 a year.
The two companies would also be working together on promoting activities for SunRockets’ VoIP services.
Thomson said in a statement on this launch: “This is the beginning of an exciting time in residential telephony where more features that improve consumers’ lives will be facilitated by the emergence of IP telephony.”
