Samsung Electronics develops an Ultra-Slim LCD screen for mobile phones

South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has said that they have developed what they believe is the thinnest LCD panel.

It is just around the thickness of regular credit cards and they have designed it for usage on mobile phone devices.

Samsung said that the screen measures 0.82 millimeters thick and it would allow them to shave between 1.4 mm and 2.4mm off the thickness in the mobile phone products.

The company plans to make these screens in 2.1-inch and 2.2-inch diagonal sizes. It would offer 240-by-320-pixel resolution and 500:1 contrast ratio. And this is expected to help them manufacture even thinner mobile phone products as they aim to challenge the domination of Motorola Razr range of products.
