Time Warner aiming to launch “download-to-burn” movies next year
We already have a couple of digital services that allow the customers to purchase and download movies from the internet. However, few of them offer the flexibility to burn them on DVD discs to play them on regular DVD players.
Time Warner has now said that they are considering launching a service that would let customers to download the movies and burn them on a DVD disc by next year.
They aim to launch the movies on the net on the same day they are made available in the retail stores.
Richard Parsons, chief executive and chairman of Time Warner spoke about their plans: “I expect we will be in a download-to-burn mode in 2007 — It will be a part of next year’s offerings.”
It would be a major shift in the attitude of movie studios if such a service is launched in the near future.
