Comcast Corp. enters mobile service market
Comcast Corp. has now become the first US based cable service provider to enter the mobile service market by launching their services in Boston and Portland, Oregon.
They have been testing their services for around a year. Comcast is currently only promoting this service through television commercials and direct mail drops in the Boston metropolitan area.
They are not alone. Time Warner too has made its services available to customers who request it in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Austin, Texas. They plan to expand on this to their other markets around the country next year.
Cox Communications too has said that they would be launching their own mobile services next year. All these three cable companies are going to use the wireless network of mobile operator Sprint Nextel Corp. for their services.
