Chris Stone to leave Novell Inc.
Vice chairman of the office of the chief executive officer in Novell Inc, Chris Stone is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities in life. Chairman and CEO Jack Messman would take over his responsibilities in the company for now.
He was in Novell for more than 2 years and worked in getting Novell to involve in Open Source movement with the acquisitions of Ximian and SuSe Linux. In fact, Novell’s move to distribute free DVDs containing commercial grade software was very much appreciated by the Open Source Community.
Novell said that they do not expect many changes to take place in its Linux Strategy because of this resignation. In addition, they are competing pretty strongly against Red Hat in high-performance technical computing.
As long as they keep taking initiatives to popularize Linux, I think it would not matter much to the end user.

About

Messman taking Stones duties at Novell..whoever believes that is going to work is drunk on the same old Novell koolaid…Linux was the only move left for Novell. Chris Stone had the stones to attempt to get money from value of software..because he knows the freeware/open source movement is stalling in the enterprise. He is no koolaid drinker.
