Honda developing a compact hatch model for India
Japanese automaker Honda is rumored to be working on a compact hatch specifically for the Indian market.
The company already has a wide range of vehicles available in India in the form of Honda City, Honda Civic, Honda Accord and the Honda CRV.
Honda has now indicated that they are working on a car with a 1.2-litre engine. This could be launched here in India within the next 3-4 years.
This car would market Honda’s entry into the segment currently dominated by Hyundai Santro, Tata Indica. Maruti is reentering this segment with the launch of Estilo model, which is the Zen’s replacement for the Indian market. They also already have the Wagon R model selling in India.
Honda also launched the all-new, third-generation Honda CR-V in India. It comes in two variants: a 2.4-litre six-speed manual transmission version and a five-speed automatic version.
