Intel to deliver pre-standard 802.11n in their Centrino package for notebooks
Microprocessor giant Intel has said that they would be delivering the pre-standard version of IEEE 802.11n Wi-Fi in their Centrino package for notebook computers.
This standard is not expected to be ratified before the first half of 2008 and it would give the mobile computer owners faster speeds than current generation of Wi-Fi technology.
Bill McFarland, a member of the IEEE committee claimed that this technology would someday scale to 600Mbps with a wider range available through current standards.
However, market analysts have said that companies should wait to deploy this technology before a standard is established as its deployment in a corporate environment can lead to interoperability problems in the future.
