Nokia expands its offering for VoIP technology

Mobile phone maker Nokia has expanded their offerings using the VoIP technology. In addition, the company also is offering technology to help service providers block or limit access to this technology.

Nokia is now allowing owners of Nokia N80 phone to download a file that configures the VoIP settings which enables them to make VoIP over Wi-Fi calls via SIPphone’s Gizmo service.

In addition, they are now also offering support for Skype VoIP calls on its N73 phone. Customers would however have to subscribe to an upcoming offering from 3 Group. This technology makes use of their 3G network.

The company has also introduced Peer-to-Peer Traffic Control application, which enables the network operators to identify data traffic on their networks according to the type of service and then prioritize that traffic based on preferred services.
