Mixd: Yahoo! also launches their own social networking service

Internet giant Yahoo! has launched an experimental social networking service for their users. This service allows mobile-phone subscribers the ability to send text messages and share videos and pictures.

However, they have not really promoted this service like their other services. They are instead targeting college campuses around the nations with this new service named Mixd.

Scott Gatz, senior director of Yahoo’s Advanced Products Group spoke on this new service launch: “It’s really an experiment. We’re putting it out to consumers to see how they use the product.”

They are offering the ability to make groups and these groups gets their own web destination to host pictures, videos and messages.

The company has not really thought of ways to generate revenues through this service as of now. However, they are running advertisements on the pages of the service.
