NASA working on a night launch plan for Space Shuttle Discovery
US space agency NASA is working hard on their plans to launch the Space Shuttle Discovery next week. Discovery is scheduled for a nighttime launch on Dec. 7 at 8:36 p.m.
However, they are still undecided on how it would switch over the shuttle computer’s clocks from 2006 to 2007 in case the mission is delayed till next year.
The mission is due to last 12 days and it would be the shuttle’s first night time launch in four years. This would also be shuttle’s third mission to space in the current year.
NASA engineers have already accelerated an investigation into a potential malfunction of gears that rotate the solar panels attached to the space station. And they are also prepared to make launch attempts through at least Dec. 17.
