Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers wants YouTube to implement copy protection tools
A Japanese entertainment group Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers has asked the Google owned video sharing website YouTube.com to implement a system to prevent the users from uploading copyrighted stuff.
They have sent YouTube.com a letter on behalf of 23 Japanese TV stations and entertainment companies. YouTube does allow users to complaint about videos, which infringes on copyrights after which they remove them. However, this process is manual and takes a lot of time.
They recently removed more than 30,000 files after the Japanese group complained of copyright infringement. However, media groups around the world are not amused and want them to do more.
YouTube has already signed on collaborative deals with CBS Corp., Warner Music Group Corp., Vivendi SA’s Universal Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment and they are trying to sign more.
