Microsoft aiming to sell 1 million Zune by June next year
Software giant Microsoft recently launched their Zune portable player to take on the popular Apple iPod range of digital music/video players.
The initial response to Zune has been disappointing as iPod continues to sell in record numbers. However, Microsoft is optimistic about Zune and has said that they are looking at sales of 1 million Zune players by June next year.
The company added that they are not concentrated on improving upon their weekly sales. Instead, they are concentrated on its efforts on incremental sales. They have already said that they don’t believe the investments in this product to show results immediately.
Jupiter Research analyst Michael Gartenberg spoke about Microsoft Zune player: “Potentially, the one million mark is achievable, but Microsoft will have to do more if they really want to get there. They need to create an incredible alternative to Apple if they want to compete in this space.”
