Google to provide search tools and advertising to Sky web portals
Search engine giant Google is collaborating with British Sky Broadcasting. The two companies would work on a Sky-branded portal, which would offer various web based services to their customers.
This is the first of its kind agreement for Google, which would now also provide search tools and advertising targeted at search results across Sky’s portfolio of Web sites.
The two companies would also work together on exploring other aspects of advertising including on mobiles and television broadcasts.
Google would also help Sky to build a user-generate video portal that would allow users to edit, upload and share content. This content could be uploaded on the web using mobile devices.
Sky’s web mail service would be using Google’s Gmail technology but with a @sky.com domain address.
