Channel Four launches online pay-per-view television service
British broadcaster Channel Four has launched an online pay-per-view television service. Users can visit their website and download shows and other content as per their requirements.
They aim to provide the shows for download for around 30 days after they are broadcasted on television.
Download costs would start at 99 pence per program. The launch would see shows commissioned since June and other programming from their archives. They are also going to sell shows of imported series including the very popular Desperate Housewives.
They also plan to offer movies for 1.99 pounds. These downloads would work for two days after they are first viewed.
With this service, Channel Four is aiming to compete with Sky and other local services like the recently launched BT Vision.
