NASA delays Space Shuttle launch due to bad weather

NASA postponed the Space Shuttle Discovery launch on Thursday night because of unfavorable weather conditions.

The next launch opportunity is at 9:13 p.m. on Friday but weather experts are predicting a 90 percent chance of another delay due to high winds stirred by a cold front pushing through central Florida.

NASA launch director Mike Leinbach said on the developments: “We gave it the best shot and did not get clear. Discovery commander Mark Polansky replied to this statement: “Try not to be too disappointed and we will be ready to support the next time we get a chance.”

NASA is hoping to get a mission completed before the end of the year. This launch was supposed to be their first launch at nighttime after the 2003 Columbia disaster. The current mission is due to last for 12 days.
