Tata claims Rs. 1 lakh car to be the most fuel-efficient car in India

Tata Motors are due to launch their Rs. 1 lakh car in 2008 in the Indian market and they expect to start work on the project before the turn of the year.

The company has now said that this car would be the most fuel-efficient car on Indian roads when it is launched.

Tata Motors Managing Director Ravi Kant added: “I can bet, whoever sees this car will fall in love with it.”

He further said that the company is in the process of finalizing other things related to the Rs 1,000 crore project and they expect to begin with a production capacity of manufacturing 2,50,000 units on a two-shift basis.

Kant said: “We are in a difficult situation. However, we have ordered machines and finalized 60 per cent of vendors. We have placed orders with them and finalized architects.”
