SanDisk and Sony develops Memory Stick PRO-HG
SanDisk Corporation and Sony Corporation have developed a new storage format named Memory Stick PRO-HG which is based on the existing Memory Stick PRO format.
The two companies claim that “Memory Stick PRO-HG” media offers high performance as it uses the enhanced 8-bit parallel interface in addition to a conventional serial and 4-bit parallel interface.
In addition, they have also increased the interface clock frequency to 60MHz from 40MHz.this has boosted the maximum data transfer speed to 480Mbps, or 60MB/s which is three times the maximum speed offered by the older format.
SanDisk and Sony said that the licensing of development of “Memory Stick PRO-HG” compliant host devices would commence in January 2007.
