IBM and Yahoo! to challenge Google in corporate search market
US based tech giant IBM is going to work with internet giants Yahoo! to develop tools for corporate search tools.
This would put them in direct competition to Google who already sell Google search appliances to corporate entities around the world.
Interestingly, IBM already has a product offering in this market named OmniFind which help companies search through internal files and other data.
They now plan to offer a free version of this tool which would be limited in the number of documents it can query. It would however offer integration with Yahoo! Search Engine providing online results along with local results.
Their free tools are aiming at paid offerings from Google considering they offer similar functionalities at no price.
