CBS Records to supply content to Apple iTunes
CBS Corp. has said that it’s revived CBS Records label would supply digital media content to online stores including the popular Apple iTunes.
The company has gone into collaboration with Apple Computers and they would be selling their music and videos on their store.
These shows and songs would also be available on sale on their own website www.cbsrecords.com.
The company aims to tap the talent of unsigned musicians who write and perform their own songs. These would be used in their television series and later sold online for extra revenue generation.
CBS Chief Executive Leslie Moonves said in a statement on their plans: “With more consumers choosing the online download model as the preferred way to purchase their favorite songs, we have an opportunity to use our unique and broad collection of media platforms to create a new music label paradigm for a small price of admission.”

Why wouldn’t CBS records supply content to Apple? What CBS is missing is the right to residual royalties on resales.
The 9thXchange marketplace is the newest way to bring together buyers and sellers of digital content. The service dramatically reduces content piracy by offering the seller lifetime royalties — even on exchanges between consumers. Moreover, the service accommodates all technology platforms, file types and creators. I read about The 9thxchange in Crains Detroit.
CBS Records needs http://www.9thx.com.
