Vodafone targeting mobile generation with 3G phones
If you are tired of carrying your mobile and the mp3 player (or iPod for apple fans) all the time while traveling, Vodafone have plans for you. They are working hard on launchings phones, which can act as music players and maybe image and video players.
Vodafone launched its 3G services in 13 countries on Wednesday with aims to reach 10 million customers within 2 years. To target customers below 35years of age, they are going to launch 10 new 3G enabled handsets.
And aim is to get MP3 playing capabilities with ability to upload songs from computers. They would also be offering songs for downloading on their website (expensive when compared to iTunes). The result is to nullify the use of buying and keeping a separate digital audio player.
Also in plans is to enable uploading mobisodes on the handsets. Mobisodes are short downloadable video clips of TV shows. Now, as much as it sound absurd… but they think it would lure people into watching clippings of latest shows on mobile handsets!
Personalizing content as per the taste of the targeted market is what they betting on to succeed in new markets.
Now, what if Apple decides to incorporate phoning abilities in their iPod? Sounds absurd. But Apple is a sort of company, which start trends in the market mostly dominated by boring white boxes and crappy handheld devices. They did it with iMac and they did it with iPod.
