Circuit City to open a virtual store on Second Life
Retailing company Circuit City has said that they would be opening up a virtual retail store on the virtual online world named Second Life.
Second Life is an Internet-based, 3-D virtual world developed three years ago by San Francisco’s Linden Lab and is increasingly becoming popular amongst the tech companies in the United States.
Circuit City would be working with tech giants IBM to create this store where consumers would be able to check out hardware products and even place order for them.
Bill McCorey, senior VP and chief information officer of Circuit City spoke on this project: “Teaming with IBM in the virtual world is as much about sensing and learning from the community as it is about commerce. These immersive environments provide an interactive forum for testing and feedback as we focus on the next generation of customer service.”
