NASA delays Space Shuttle return for extended mission
US Space Agency NASA has decided that two astronauts would be conducting an unscheduled fourth spacewalk on Monday to work on retracting a stuck solar panel on the International Space Station.
This means that the Discovery shuttle is going to land back to earth on Friday. This also delays the ISS crew’s other scheduled task.
NASA had been trying to get their astronauts to retract the 35m solar array since Wednesday so that they can get the new power system in working condition.
Astronauts Robert Curbeam and Christer Fuglesang would be going on another spacewalks to try to fix this problem.
This would become Curbeam’s fourth spacewalk on this mission and would set a record for a NASA astronaut.
