F-35 Lightning II fighter jet success in its first test flight
Lockheed Martin Corp. has said that they have successfully completed the first test flight of their F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.
This jet is part of the largest U.S. weapons program ever and this test might help them to generate foreign sales of the aircraft.
Lockheed spokesman Thomas Jurkowsky said in a statement that the Lockheed-built F- 35 completed a 35-minute flight under Chief Pilot Jon Beesley. This plane has been under development since last five years.
The company said that they managed to achieve majority of the flight’s test objectives. Beesley said in a statement: “The airplane flew perfectly fine. We designed the aircraft with redundancy so if one of the sensors is out we can fly with the other one. That part worked just fine.”
