Halo 2 makes it big for Microsoft
Microsoft may soon find gaming to be more profitable than many other ventures of theirs if Halo 2 initial numbers are something to go by. Their new release for Xbox gaming machine has just recorded a massive sales figure of USD 125 million on the first day of release!
These figures are for USA and Canada regions and the sales figure of 2.38 million units crossed the expected figures of USD 100 million with a pretty incredible margin. This could potentially be recorded as one of the biggest launch of an entertainment item in the market. These figures sounds more like movie-opening revenues than game opening revenues…
If the trend continues Halo 2 can create gaming history for being one of the biggest selling games of all times. But with trends showing big sales for high profile games like Sims 2 and GTA: San Andreas, this could just be the beginning of yet another number game!
Super Mario 64 and GTA: Vice City are currently reported to be the biggest selling games of all times. And many games are threatening to dethrone them from the top. Halo 2 for starters clearly demolished all records held by Halo’s original version and more would be coming in the new future.
