Linksys not Apple launches the iPhone

The market had been waiting for a mobile device named iPhone since a long time. It has arrived somewhat but the disappointing news is that Linksys not Apple has launched products using this name.

The Cisco owned networking company has launched a series of web-enabled handsets designed for VoIP technology.

They have named these new products iPhone using the iPhone trademark Cisco has owned since 2000 after it acquired Infogear.

Mike Pocock, Linksys senior vice president and general manager spoke on this product launch: “The development of the iPhone family demonstrates our flexibility in selecting the right partnerships, feature sets, and product designs to exceed the demands of even our most connected customers to whom the internet is no longer a destination, but an inextricable part of their lives.”

As many as seven products are now available and they offer support for Yahoo Messenger, Skype, and traditional telephone line calls.
