Sharp starts mass production of blue laser diodes
Japanese tech company Sharp has said that they have now started the commercial production of blue laser diodes.
This would help them tap the ever growing market for such diodes. These diodes are used to read and write data on high-definition optical discs.
Sony uses these diodes in their recently launched Blu-Ray drives and Toshiba uses them in their HD DVD drives.
With this Sharp would enter the market currently dominated by Sony and Nichia Corp. they are planning to enhance their manufacturing capacities to 500,000 units per month by the end of next year.
