Studios can now offer customized content through Amazon Unbox
Online ecommerce giants Amazon already allow studios and TV networks to sell made-on-demand DVDs through Amazon.com’s CustomFlix subsidiary.
The company has now said that these content providers can also now sell their content through the recently launched video download service, Unbox.
This facility would be introduced soon sometime early next year and could boost the sales on their Unbox service.
Amazon’s CustomFlix Labs currently produces licensed DVDs only when a customer orders one. However, most content providers would be able to offer their content in digital form for no extra cost. This would save quite a lot for the end customer as he can simply download the programming he wants rather than wait for a customized DVD.
CustomFlix spokeswoman Stacey Hurwitz said in a statement that the demand from media companies has been high.
