Several major record labels have sued the operators of the much in news digital music website AllofMP3.com. These companies are claiming in the lawsuit that the service is selling copies of music without their permission.
This lawsuit has been filed in a federal court based in New York. They are levying the charges against Moscow-based Mediaservices which owns both AllofMP3.com and allTunes.com.
Some of the companies behind this new lawsuit include Arista Records LLC, Warner Bros. Records Inc., Capitol Records Inc. and UMG Recordings Inc. the lawsuit claims: “Defendant’s entire business … amounts to nothing more than a massive infringement of plaintiffs’ exclusive rights under the Copyright Act and New York law.”
Mediaservices has been claiming that their services are legit considering they pay loyalties to Russian licensing group. They further say that the website is compliant with their country’s laws and regulations. British Phonographic Industry has also already filed copyright infringement claims against Mediaservices in Britain.
