AOL to end 2006 on a high

Time Warner internet division AOL has seen real bad times in the recent years. However, this year has been impressive as the company is expected to end 2006 with more users compared to last year.

The company is gaining from the major policy change which saw them offer more of their services for free. AOL restructured its operations this summer and launched a series of free products and services luring them away from competing services.

AOL Chief Executive Randy Falco is cited to have said: “As we reach the end of the year we have ever more evidence that those efforts are working.”

The company ended last year with 19.5 million paid subscribers. They had touched a peak high of about 26.5 million paying subscribers in 2002.

They would now have more users though less number of paying customers. AOL is working on enhancing revenues from online advertising services.
