Bebo social networking the most popular search term on Google in 2006
MySpace.com might be the most popular online social networking website on the internet but they were beaten by Bebo.com in Google’s most popular searched keywords list in 2006.
Google further revealed that 2006 also witnessed a rise in interest about technology topics such as AJAX, podcasting, and Web 2.0.
MySpace.com was the second most popular Google search this year. It was followed by world cup, metacafe, radioblog, wikipedia, video, rebelde, mininova, and wiki.
Interestingly, the other major search engine Yahoo! had celebrities dominating their top 10 most searched terms in 2006.
Google News reported that paris hilton was the most highly sought topic. She was followed by orlando bloom, cancer, podcasting, hurricane katrina, bankruptcy, martina hingis, autism, 2006 nfl draft. In comparison, Steve Irwin’s death was the most popular searched term in Yahoo! News.
