Chunghwa Telecom collaborates with Google for mobile search
Taiwan’s largest provider of telephony services Chunghwa Telecom has confirmed that they are collaborating with search engine giant Google to provide their mobile search service in the country.
The two companies would be sharing the revenues earned from this service. Chunghwa spokeswoman Shen Fu-fu said in a statement on this collaboration: “We’ll offer a search engine on our Emome platform, and in the long run will have other co-operation.”
Emome is the mobile internet service provided by the company in the country to their customers.
Chunghwa aims to expand the scope of earning more revenues per user with this new service. The company like most dominating players around the world is facing declining sales in its fixed-line and long-distance businesses.
They had around 8.42 million mobile subscribers at the end of August.
