Space shuttle Discovery lands in Florida safe and sound

NASA has successfully completed another Space Shuttle mission as Discovery landed back safely in Florida at the Kennedy Space Centre.

The mission was successful as the astronauts managed to rewire the International Space Station. Discovery returned with a seven-member crew that included Germany’s Thomas Reiter who was stationed at the ISS since the last six months.

It left astronaut Sunita Williams of Indian origin at the International Space Station for a six-month stint in space.

The astronauts on this mission also managed to successfully install a 2-tonne truss segment on the space station’s backbone.

The US space agency has plans for an additional 13 more missions to complete the space station before the shuttle fleet is retired in 2010.
