Google likely to become net’s most visited website by next year

Search engine service Google is likely to become the internet’s most visited website this coming year. The company is doing very well with revenues touching an impressive $7.2 billion for the first three quarters of 2006.

In addition, the stock also touched a high crossing USD 500 this year. And they recently acquired high profile video sharing service YouTube.com.

With internet traffic monitoring companies considering adding YouTube’s traffic to Google’s own traffic, it is very likely that the search engine company would become the web’s most popular destination next year.

ComScore recently reported that Google overtook Yahoo! for the first time as the second-most-visited site worldwide in November.

One interesting aspect of Google vs. Yahoo! visit traffic is that just 10% of Yahoo’s traffic comes from search. In comparison for Google 87% of the traffic originates from search.

Considering Yahoo! Mail Beta is powered using the AJAX technology, it is likely that they would now start reporting less page views from mail services hurting their numbers in the reports.
