Sony Ericsson could enter South Korea soon
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications is the world’s fourth largest mobile phone seller in the world and they are now considering entering the competitive South Korean market with their products next year.
This was reported by a spokesman for SK Telecom Co. who said: “Sony Ericsson is in talks with Korean mobile carriers about installing the Wi-Fi wireless Internet platform on its phones to be launched in Korea.”
SK Telecom is the Korea’s leading mobile carrier by subscribers.
Sony Ericsson might be interested in launching high-end phones in Korea next year where new age technologies like HSDPA are easily available to subscribers.
SK Telecom added that they have yet to decide on whether they would be interested in purchasing mobile phones from Sony Ericsson.
The country is currently dominated by domestic mobile phone makers including Samsung and LG. Motorola also has a smallish presence in the market.
