New cars to land in India in 2007
The Indian automobile market has seen some amazing time this year. More people are buying cars than ever. Maruti had an amazing year as they sold record number of cars this year. Other players too have performed admirably.
Next year could be even better with as many as 50 new models heading for India. Let’s see on what is in store for us in the New Year.
General Motors should be the first company to offer a new car this coming year. They recently launched the 1.2-litre Aveo U-VA which should be ready for sale early next year.
Maruti would begin launching their diesel models once again next year. The hugely popular Suzuki Swift would get a 1.3-litre CRDi engine and we are likely to see LDI, VDI and ZDI models with DDIS badges.
Maruti is also likely to launch diesel models of Esteem and perhaps the Gypsy. Esteem could see a replacement like the Zen was replaced with Zen Estilo this year.
India’s largest automaker is also likely to launch a brand new replacement for their Baleno car. This replaced model could be out as early as April next year.
Then, General Motors should be out with one of the most awaited cars from their stables. People have been waiting for them to launch the Matiz replacement Spark since quite some time. Chevrolet Spark should be out this coming year with a 1.1-litre engine. It would take on Hyundai Santro and Maruti Wagon R/Zen Estilo.
Another interesting car people have been waiting for is the Renault Logan which the company would launch in collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra. This car could provide competition to Maruti Esteem and Tata Indigo. Even the cheaper variants of Ford Ikon are not safe.
Volkswagen is expected to launch their luxury sedan Passat in India next year to take on the cheaper Benz models in India.
BMW would launch their made-in-India 3-Series. The company is also likely to sell the imported 7-Series car in India.
Skoda might finally come out with their smaller car Fabia which would compete with Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna.
Audi could launch the Audi TT car.
Hyundai would take on the Swift Diesel with their own Getz Diesel.
Fiat could do well in partnership with Tata to launch the new Fiat Palio and Fiat Punto.
And then we would have some new companies entering India with their super luxury cars. 2007 is going to be very exciting after all!
