Asian Internet Problems still Wide Open
Internet access in the Asian countries has been quite shaky even since the undersea cables were damaged by a quake last week.
The work has been going on fixing the mess. However, the authorities in Hong Kong have warned that opening of businesses this week would complicate the problems as the corporate sector is expected to see Internet and email congestion.
Hong Kong’s Office of the Telecommunications Authority added that the work is expected to continue for the rest of the current month on restoration of internet services.
Internet access has been restored more or less in most of the areas however the speeds are slow and the access is sometimes buggy.
The Hong Kong authority added: “As most businesses and schools will resume operations (on Tuesday), Internet users visiting overseas websites may experience slow response or congestion. Emails to and from overseas servers, especially those with large files such as images, will take a longer time than usual to reach destinations.”
