Toyota expected to dominate Ford in US in December
Japanese automaker Toyota is expected to dominate the sales figures compared to Ford in the US market in the month of December.
Market analysts have said that Ford is likely to report a large sales drop in December. And Toyota is expected to post enough improvements to overtake Ford yet again in the US market.
Edmunds.com has said that they expect Ford to post a stunning 19.6 per cent drop in sales compared to December in 2005. Bank of America analyst Ronald Tadross puts this figure at around 10 to 12 per cent.
If these estimates are correct, Toyota would manage to displace Ford as the second largest automobile seller in the US market for the second month in a row and the third month of 2006.
The first time Toyota overtook Ford was in July this year.
Experts believe that Ford would have suffered a lot in December 2006 considering they stopped producing the Taurus car. Toprak spoke about Ford: “They’re going to be down in pretty much every single segment. They really did not have any new products that will bring excitement and showroom traffic to a great extent.”
