Rolls-Royce to showcase Phantom Drophead Coupe
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is due to showcase their new Phantom Drophead Coupe at Detroit Motor Show. The company is further expected to start production of this car in the summer at their Goodwood plant in Britain.
Phantom Drophead Coupe is a two-door, four-seat car. It features a sleek, streamlined convertible body on a lightweight yet rigid all-aluminum spaceframe chassis.
Rolls said that the car has a long hood, large wheels, short front and long rear overhangs. And it features the Rolls-Royce trade mark of the dynamic line descending along its flanks.
Phantom Drophead Coupe would come loaded with a 6.75-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine and would deliver 0-to-60 mile per hour acceleration of 5.7 seconds. The company expects to sell this car for around $407,000.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ chairman and chief executive Ian Robertson added that they would continue to focus on their saloons as their flagship products. However, this car would help them attract new buyers.
Phantom Drophead Coupe would be Rolls Royce second new model since they were acquired by the BMW Group in 2003.
