Qualcomm might face antitrust issues in South Korea
South Korea’s antitrust watchdog agency has said that they have formed a special team to look into the Qualcomm’s operations in the country.
The KBS television reported in a news item: “The Fair Trade Commission has obtained information that may show Qualcomm abused its market-dominating position in its business with local companies.”
Interestingly, Microsoft is already facing a similar probe by another team formed by the same antitrust watchdog agency.
Qualcomm Korea had reported last year that they were visited by FTC officials and they were cooperating with them in their investigations.
Qualcomm is a dominating player in the CDMA technology market and South Korea is the home of mobile phone companies like Samsung and LG.
