Toyota hybrid vehicle website now feature social networking features
Toyota is going social with their website for their hybrid cars. The company has added features which now enable the owners of these cars to create profiles of themselves that can include their age group, vehicle color, and reasons why they drive a hybrid.
These profiles are searchable and the company wants the owners of their hybrid cars to interact with each other on the web.
Gregg Benkendorfer, National Manager of Media Strategy and Digital Marketing for Toyota spoke on this initiative: “Toyota’s more than 600,000 hybrid owners are very passionate about their vehicles and the reasons they drive them. The new community site taps into that excitement by letting users visually represent themselves through graphic art and video.”
The company believes that considering people have very specific reasons for choosing a hybrid, they would like to explain it through their profile on the company’s website. They also believe that this initiative would encourage more people to think about getting themselves a hybrid car.
