NTT DoCoMo aims to launch a high speed low cost mobile internet service by 2010
Japanese mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo is said to be working on launching a high-speed, low-cost data communications service in 2010.
This service would be able to deliver high-quality video on mobile devices. Impressive, this Super 3G (third generation) service would require them to upgrade their existing networks.
This would keep their required investments down to between 100 billion and 200 billion yen.
This network would provide internet connectivity speeds of roughly 100 megabits per second. This would be many times faster than current speeds provided by DoCoMo’s existing services for mobile devices.
The tests are expected to begin this year itself.
