LG announces plans to launch a Blu-Ray HD DVD dual format player
Consumers are facing a war between the two new generation storage formats. Sony has developed a Blu-Ray format and it is competing with Toshiba developed HD DVD technology.
Hardware manufacturers are divided between these two technologies and till now we only have standalone players available in the market.
However, South Korean tech giant LG Electronics has announced that they would soon launch a dual player capable of playing both Blu-Ray and HD DVD media.
LG would be launching the first dual-format high-definition disc player at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.
Ricoh and NEC are two other companies which are developing components that could read both Blu-ray and HD DVD media. However, no products have been revealed by these two companies.
