Google signs on a deal with China Mobile for search services

Search engine giant Google has signed on a deal with the largest mobile service provider in China, China Mobile. Google would now be providing search service for China Mobile’s Monternet WAP (Wireless Access Protocol) portal.

Subscribers would be able to use Google search technology to hunt through news, videos and other content from their mobile phone.

This service has been under testing mode since last month and they expect to launch the final service sometime this year.

Google and China Mobile are also looking for other ways to combine their services. Though, not many details have been provided on this aspect.

D-J Collins, a Google spokesman in Europe spoke on this deal: “Twice as many people in the world own a mobile phone as own a fixed-line PC, and if people want to search for information on a handheld device then that’s important to us.”
