Cingular launches video calling on LG CU500v mobile phone
US based mobile service provider Cingular Wireless has announced that they would provide mobile video calling in the US.
They are initially offering this service on the new LG CU500v phone. Users can press a button to start streaming video to other CU500v owners in a Cingular HSDPA covered city.
However, the video calls are one way currently. This new feature is based on the SIP technology.
The company plans to offer several mobile phones offering this facility in the coming months.
Cingular said that they are only offering one way video calling at this moment considering a two way communication would require too much bandwidth.
They aim to make available this new service before the summers but have not revealed the expected pricing structure.
