Microsoft and Dell to make Software Upgrades easy
Software Upgrades can be a messy task. And Microsoft Chief Software Architect Bill Gates plans to make it easier for network administrators. Microsoft in collaboration with Dell and Vintela are releasing certain tools and promise more in this direction.
A public beta of Windows Update Services, a tool that allows administrators to control and automate the deployment of Windows software updates was unveiled at an IT Forum in Copenhagen along with the release of Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, and Virtual Server 2005.
In partnership with platform integration software provider Vintela, they plan to extend these services to *nix environment. They are also collaborating with Dell to integrate systems management applications so customers can update their hardware and software with one tool. Dell will be bundling MOM 2005 Workgroup Edition with Dell PowerEdge servers in 2005.
