Sling Media to show SlingCatcher product at the International Consumer Electronics Show

Sling Media Inc. already sells the Slingbox device which enables the user to watch their home television on laptops away from home.

They now want to launch a product that enables users to bring Web video to television sets.

The company is due to showcase their SlingCatcher product at the International Consumer Electronics Show which aims to bring web content to television sets at home.

Sling Media aims to start selling this product in the retail market by the middle of current year. The price is expected to be below USD 200.

The device would transmit multimedia content of any format from the Web to a TV. It could be photos, movies or any kind of digital media.

It would support the freely available SlingPlayer media software that has to be installed on a laptop or desktop computer to help convert digital media formats into video and audio playable on televisions.

However, the users would have to use their PCs to control what is coming on the television sets.
