Cingular Wireless users can now get the Treo 750
Cingular users can now get their hands on the Treo 750 smartphone. Palm has launched this alternative mobile phone supporting Cingular Wireless to provide an alternative to Treo 700 which supports Sprint and Verizon EVDO technology.
The Palm Treo 750 supports the Cingular’s next-generation UMTS network.
However, this device won’t be as fast next-generation UMTS network which already supports the HSDPA service capable of 400 to 700 kilobits per second. Palm 750 would however be faster than EDGE service on Cingular’s existing Palm OS-based Treos.
Palm would be making available a firmware upgrade to add HSDPA support later this year.
This Palm smartphone features a softer, rubberized finish and includes a QWERTY thumb keyboard and a 240-by-240 touch-screen display.
It is powered by the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition and comes with applications for editing and viewing Microsoft Word and Excel files. Users would also be able to view PowerPoint and PDF files. A web browser and a media player would also be included in the package.
