Toshiba launches portable Hard Drives with backup provision
Mobile storage provider Toshiba Storage Device Division has launched a series of new 2.5-inch USB 2.0 portable external hard drives.
These come in capacities of 100GB, 120GB and 160GB and feature automated backup capability.
The drives feature automatic power-on and save capabilities for backup of photo, video, music and data files. Toshiba would be targeting these devices at users in the digital home and home office.
These drives power up automatically as soon as the user connects them to the computer through the USB interface. These would ship with the Toshiba’s NTI Shadow software which automates backups once the parameters are set by the user.
Toshiba said that this utility would run in the background taking backups as regularly as the user wants them taken.
