Motorola wants to improve media services this year
World’s second largest mobile phone maker Motorola has said that they want to improve media services on its cellphones via agreements with Microsoft Corp and Yahoo Inc. this year.
The company is also working on developing set top boxes that can send home television to phones.
Motorola has made tremendous gains in the mobile phone sector through their Razr range of mobile phones. They are trying to further extend this with the recently launched products like the Rizr and Krzr.
Motorola Chief Executive Ed Zander said in a statement: “I think last year was cool devices. This year it’s cool experiences. Making all that technology come out of the box is what we need to do.”
In other news, he talked about putting Microsoft’s Windows Media digital rights management (DRM) in a music playing phone model in the first half of this year. This is not going to amuse a lot of their fans.
However, this could give these phones the ability to wirelessly download music to cellphones from several digital music stores.
